If you haven’t had the chance yet, now is a great time to check out the new skatepark at East Maitland. This awesome new facility consists of a brand-new skate bowl that is becoming more and more popular with the young (and young at heart) skaters.
The project, located on Lawes street, East Maitland, features a 20 metre by 8 metre bowl that is up to two metres deep in some sections.
Alongside the skate bowl is concrete paths and street elements that will really help skaters to hone their tricks and skater skills.
All weather shelters, water bubblers and seating nearby finishes off the area nicely. And with a large grassed area nearby functioning as a spill out space for events and competitions, this will no doubt be a popular spot for the locals to hang out and run events.
A Skatepark Built for the Community by the Community
The new skatepark is definitely a project built for the community by the community with the Maitland City Council opening up discussion for the design of the park to the public allowing local residents, particularly local skaters to have their say about the design.
I think we can all agree, the results are outstanding and will no doubt keep Maitland Skaters busy for many years to come.
This is what the project looked like on day one of construction…
And check out our video below of the park upon completion…
Like most of the jobs we work on, we thoroughly enjoyed watching this project come to life, from flat grassland in early August (when we first installed the temporary construction fence to the perimeter of the property), to a concrete skating wonderland that it is today.
